Lin & Lin Gallery is pleased to present Zhao Zhao at 2022 JINGART, showcasing how the artist express his own reflections on the current era and culture with their different aesthetics and unique creative contexts in the environment that Chinese and Western cultures have converged nowadays.

Zhao Zhao constantly challenges traditional ideologies, but there is still a poetic aesthetics in his works under the critical aspect. Tradition to the artist is the thing that cannot be abandoned. In contemporary form of creation, the full spirit of traditional aesthetics can still be seen, so that we can always find a profound understanding of traditional cultural aesthetics in his works. Zhao Zhao's latest works continue his observation of recent years. As a warm and ambiguous color, pink in his paintings is a bustling temporal landscape that he saw in life and is a color full of desire. Furthermore, his Bamboo Shoots and The Wild Yak follow the same narrative logic, outlining various dimensions of his life. Sometimes it is bamboo shoots that grow like a flame in the long night; sometimes it is the yak wanders in the nature without boundaries, unloads all kinds of identity and runs into the unknown without reluctance.

Zhao Zhao, born in Xinjiang, 1982. His provocative, multidisciplinary artist practice has garnered him international attention in recent years. He also has received the support from many international institutions. In 2014, Zhao Zhao was listed as one of the Modern Painters "25 Artists to Watch". In 2017, he obtained the award nomination of Chinese annual young artist in 11th ACC (Award of Art China) and won the Thirteenth AAC Artist of the Year Award in 2019. He also released a number of collaboration with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Land Rover, NIKE, VANS, Venvennet, etc.
