2009 - Su Hui-Yu|The Fabled Shoots II — Bloody Beauty

  • Su Hui-Yu|The Fabled Shoots II — Bloody Beauty

  • Opening|2009.04.11 4pm
  • Lin & Keng Gallery

Su Hui-Yu extends the initial series of the special and visual effect and continues focusing on the relations between “violence” and “contemporary media,” and enlarging to a greater theme, attempting to obtain “a creative declaration about violence.” This new style of creation explores the conflicts between the senses and the values of people in the media generation and the indispensable connectedness between entertainment and violence in media. The difference between The Fabled Shoots I & II is that in the latter series, the protagonist is not the artist himself but those pretty female models experiencing warfare. These females represent a common media effect — not aggressive, pretty, and sometimes with sex appeals to evoke consumptive desire in advertisement. Using female models as the protagonist depicts the artist’s long term concern — the unconscious internal logic and tricks of public media.
