Singapore art fair invites Lin & Lin Gallery to participate in the activities and exhibitions launched for the 10th anniversary. The gallery has introduced many Chinese artists' works, for instance, Wang Huaiqing, Su Xiaobai, Hung Tung-lu, Lai Chiu-Chen and Liu Shih-Tung, demonstrating the diversities in contemporary art developments.
Wang Huaiqing exercises the Chinese philosophy to express abstract ideas from concrete imagery. Alternating incessantly between ethereality and concreteness, and relating gradually the oriental spirit on the canvas. Su Xiaobai has just had a solo exhibition in Langen Art Museum, using materials that embrace five thousand years of Chinese history—lacquer, oil paint, wood, linen are interwoven to create works that have momentum and a poetic sense. These two important artists’ works subtly reveal the interiority and the spirit of Chinese culture.
For the mid-generation artists, Hung Tung-lu, Lai Chiu-Chen and Liu Shih-Tung, are the representatives for contemporary art. Hung Tung-lu juxtaposes three dimensional space and imagery to create an illusion that depicts personal and cultural anxiety and fluctuation. Lai Chiu-Chen layers multiple color patches onto those seemingly flatten surfaces, embedding the canvas base with infinite spaces. Liu Shih-Tung faces the era of excess information and uses collage method to reconstruct visual materials together. He thus recycles those consumed information and creates another fanciful world. Through this exhibition, Lin & Lin Gallery demonstrates its strength and the direction for Chinese art market, and actively inculcates emerging artists to enter into the world stage.
