Opening 2011|03.12 4pm - Lin & Lin Gallery
The joint exhibition Momentum assembles great works by artists from Mainland China and Taiwan. Its title envisions the artists to move on into the next phase and to initiate and accumulate the gallery's strength, with a higher self expectation.
The artists involved are Lu Hsien-Ming, Kuo Wei-Kuo, Leng Bing-Chuan, Cao Hui, Xu Wen-Tao, Chao Brother, Liu Shih-Tung, Lai Chiu-Chen. These artists are born between 60s-70s with similar cultural backgrounds. But the differences in environment and social ambience have enabled their works to depict cultural and social diversities. Lu Hsien-Ming and Kuo Wei-Kuo are members of an important art group in Taiwan—Hantoo and their works depict the minute observations of cities, people and middle age status. The color pureness on Leng Bing-Chuan's canvas emits an oriental literary feel. Cao Hui and Xu Wen-Tao uncover the emotive anxiety and dilemma existed in their generation. Chao Brother's works relate the collective memory of an epoch. Liu Shih-Tung and Lai Chiu-Chen are in an era of excess information and cultural integration; they have thus wiped on and collage together the new generation's dictions.
