As one of the representatives for artists after the 1970s, Yin Zhaoyang is going to hold the solo exhibition—Sunset in an Empty Mountain from 8th to 30th October at Lin & Lin Gallery, Taipei. In this new serious “Great Scenery”, Yin tears down the barriers between Eastern and Western traditions with the contemporary art language. Then he returns into his inner spirits, developing the literati profundity of the modern landscape paintings.

Yin explores his ego and chooses a classic theme—“mountain” and “temple” in his new serious in order to depict the obscure inner emotion of his early forty. Despite actual landscapes serving as the basis for his imagery, the landscape paintings Yin produces are not slavishly realistic reproductions. They are, rather, simplifications of the actual scenery, or even a concentrated version of the concept; a concoction intermingling ever more personal subjective impressions, ideas or thoughts therein. Consequently, Yin’s landscapes are a cross between reproduction and subjective construction, making them even richer in abstract and expressionistic qualities.

Yin Zhaoyang (b.1970) was born in Nanyang, Henan. In 1996, he graduated from the Printmaking Department of CAFA. Now he lives in Beijing and professional artist. Yin’s paintings have inspired a serious of discussion on Sorrow of Youth, with which has been used to develop the self-image and the emotional characters of the generation. In 90s, the “Youth Cruel Painting” has been carried by those artists such as, Yin and the others who have given the paintings a distinct experiment and profundity of thought on the subject of image conception, narrative painting and anesthetic. This has become an important trend in modern painting sect in 90s. Yin has as well invited to attend in many cities such as, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, New York, Los Angeles and Bangka…etc.
