Chen Chieh-Jen｜Lo-deh Sao—PHoto ESPAÑA｜Galería i23, Madrid

The Artist Chen Chieh-Jen will participate in Festival Off of PHoto ESPAÑA in Madrid, Spain and showcase the exhibition Lo-deh Sao, presenting the photography works, such as Worn Away, Voices of Pathologized Bodies. In this exhibition, Chen Chieh-Jen focuses on historical memory and on the ways in which bodies resist processes of modernization, deindustrialization, and social exclusion. Through a methodology that combines performance, photography and audiovisual language, the artist constructs a series of images, from Worn Away to Voices of Pathologized Bodies, that function as sites of friction to create a strong tension between past and present, between the archive and action.

PHoto ESPAÑA, founded in 1998 by art origination La Fábrica and that is the most famous and important art event in Spain. Every year, this festival is held joint exhibitions in Madrid and other major cities, that primarily divided into the two sections, Selección Oficial, and Festival Off.
