Artist Zhao Zhao holds his solo exhibition, “Co-Savor,” at the Aurora Museum in Shanghai. The title “Co-Savor” is drawn from Su Shi’s First Ode on the Red Cliff. It symbolizes the abundance and eternity inherent in nature, transcending time and space to be shared by you and me. Breaking with typical display ways in the museum, the exhibition ingeniously brings together Zhao Zhao’s critical and artistic works, along with his personal collection, into the museum’s permanent exhibition halls. By juxtaposing contemporary works such as Flying Immortal, Jade Constellations, Liangzhu, and Sky Fire, which are multiple materials, functions with the museum’s millennia-old pottery figurines, jade artifacts from various dynasties, blue-and-white porcelain, and Buddhist sculptures, the exhibition steps into a dialogue spanning a thousand years and blending visual symbols with historical contexts. In addition, a special exhibition Evidence and Traces of the Mind: Zhao Zhao’s Collection of Jian Ware Tea Bowls, showcases the artist’s fascination with and research into ancient Chinese ceramics, inviting viewers to explore a feast that combines antiquities and contemporary art.
